Our
Story

We were inspired to create Mommy & Me Yoga Club after feeling frustrated by the few exercise options in our area that included childcare and struggling to feel motivated to work out alone. We started meeting weekly to flow together while our children played. We come to the table with different fortes: Athena has the years of yoga experience, and Kaitlyn has a professional dance background and strength to do all the fun yoga moves many of us aspire to learn. We have completed yoga teacher training, and we are ready to help other moms in a similar bind (no yoga pun intended!).

If you've ever wanted to do something for yourself but couldn't find childcare or motivation, you're not alone. We've been there too! At Mommy & Me Yoga Club, your child can safely play nearby while you flow. It's more than just yoga, though. It's about connection, laughter, and the shared experience of motherhood.

Our Team.

Over 20 years ago, I was a college student curious about a yoga class offered at my university’s rec center. While I've put yoga on hold here and there since then, I have always come back to it. I've consistently practiced for the last five years, with only a short break right before and right after having my son last year. I can’t keep myself away from it for too long because I feel it in my body and energy.

Teaching is one of my passions. I worked in education for 15 years, and like anything else in my life in which I’m interested, I dive head first and go as deep as possible. I have a doctorate in education, but since having a baby last year, I now stay home with my son. Trying to get as much time in doing yoga with a small child as I did before has been difficult, and practicing alone at home just isn't the same as being with a group!

I started this club doing yoga at various parks with other moms while our children play. Yoga with kids is different: Little faces surprise us in downward dog, tiny hands wave snacks at us in half moon, and pouty faces insist on being carried during chair pose. It's different. It's imperfect. But it's motherhood, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm a dancer, yoga lover, and proud mom of two energetic little boys (ages 3 and 6). I have a degree in Dance and Journalism from Montclair State University, where I also studied Yoga and movement science. For over a decade, I have enjoyed a successful career as a professional dancer, performing on cruise ships, in theaters, and in casinos around the world.

In 2017, I was crowned Miss New Jersey and went on to place second runner-up at Miss America 2018, where I used my platform to inspire confidence and community connection through the arts.

With more than 15 years of experience teaching dance and fitness, I brings my love of movement, mindfulness, and creativity to every class. I'm passionate about sharing yoga as a joyful bonding experience for parents and kids.

Originally from New Jersey, I now call Estero, Florida home, where I'm dedicated to building community through my new venture, Mommy & Me Yoga Club, a space for movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.
